"How do I find subjects with high demand?"


"Once I have found the demand, how do I decide on the best product to fill that demand?"


Not surprising. These are fundamental questions for any business - online or off. Obviously, one way to find demand is to look at the keywords that are used most often. Many people will advise you that you should not be afraid of competition. They say that - when you find a keyword that is searched on often AND is used in a lot of AdWords campaigns - this indicates that there's lots of profit in the field. No argument from me. If you have the top notch marketing skills needed to successfully do an end run around the competition, you will profit.


But those same advisors will usually tell you that the opposite is also true: If you find keywords that are searched on often, but are NOT used in many AdWords campaigns, that is an indication that there is little profit to be had in the field. I do NOT agree with this side of the question.


If you believe that, you are saying that Internet marketers are such good brainstormers that they have found every useful keyword. Such good product developers that they have offered the ideal product using every useful keyword. Such good marketers that they have used the very best marketing techniques to offer the ideal products using every useful keyword.


If all that's true, then we might as well all pack up and go home!


The fact is that - if you look at a LOT of keywords that are searched on often AND are used in few AdWords campaigns - you will find many overlooked useful keywords. A while back, after a difficult search, I found a large keyword database that could be use to create a long list of keywords fitting this description. Do these searchers share an interest in products related to the field?

Would an ad aimed at these searchers have a chance of achieving a high click through rate?

Are there existing products for this field with good affiliate programs?

Is the field suitable for product creation using video technology?


If you can answer those questions correctly, you still have a pretty long list of the best of the best overlooked keywords. Many more than I can use myself. So I decided to pass along some of this valuable information to a small group of Internet marketers.
