Growing Up Amish – The Insider Secrets
Does
Extra Body Weight Define You?
Were you
teased about your weight as a young child?
If so, I know exactly what you had to endure. I heard FAT comments on a daily basis. In this chapter I will share my story to help
you too, plus I will give you the step by step process on what I discovered
because of this experience. This part of
Growing Up Amish was not easy but it has molded me into a stronger person. You
too can discover a truly guilt free mind.
Rigid
Childhood Discipline – Can You Relate?
Some
call it discipline but I call it abuse.
Growing up Amish did not shelter me from abuse. However, now I have lived on both sides. From this chapter you will be able to
discover your way to the non-abusive side; no matter where on the spectrum you
are, you truly will learn from my experiences.
It taught me to re-think how I would raise my own children.
Who
Are We Talking To When Name-Calling?
Do
we truly see that other person as the demeaning name we just threw at them or
are we only trying to make ourselves feel better? Name-calling was very common while growing up
Amish. Since then I discovered how to
truly forgive each and every person that called me names. This chapter will teach you the step by step
process of getting to the point of saying, "I forgive you".
Do
You Discipline By Fear and/or Guilt?
A
child looks to their parents to provide safety, security and love. When any of
these elements disappear, children develop self-defense mechanisms to help them
cope with the emotional voids. This chapter will give you detailed information
on how to either change your discipline habits with your children or how to
overcome the scars this can leave.
Your
Opinions and Decisions Do Count.
If
your opinions and decisions don't count…..why not? Amish children are taught to be seen and not
heard. How can this shy Amish girl go against everything to find her
opinionated voice? You won't want to
miss this guide to making your own opinions and decisions count. I give you some very personal details of what
it took for me to make my opinions and decisions count.
Have
You Grown Beyond Sexual Abuse?
Sexual
abuse is scary no matter if you are a child or a grown up, in any religion, and
in any part of the world. It is all about control over another person. Growing Up Amish did nothing to prepare me
for the trauma of this. This chapter
will show you what I learned from this experience and also teach you how to
deal with it so you can move on to a happier place.
Do
Teenagers Really Know Love?
Amish
teenager love life is different than American culture but it is similar when
you wonder if you are really in love or not.
Did you get married too young? I
could not wait to be old enough to have my own home, family, and life and then
when I had the chance I could not go through with it. Why? I
explain it in great detail and there is much for you to learn from.
What
Do Major Losses In Life Mean To You?
I
was certain that God was punishing me when our home was destroyed by fire. My mother said, "If we didn't have things in
our home that were just for show and pride, God would not let a fire destroy
our home." Do you take responsibility
for everything that happens to you, even if it was out of your control? Here you will learn how to go from a guilt
ridden and God fearing way of thinking to understanding that God loves us and
is kind. When one door closes, another
one opens.
I don't share my experiences to get sympathy from anyone. My hope is that as I share my deepest
thoughts in regards to my experiences growing up Amish, you too can be inspired
to change whatever is stopping you. I wake up everyday with the knowledge
of where I came from and how I turned all those negative events of my past life
to become a better person.
Growing
up Amish has taught me how to live a more fulfilling, less selfish life, full
of love and respect.
